In Remembrance and Hope

December 4, 2011
On December 2, 2011, the Austin Symphonic Band presented a concert in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and looked forward in hope to the holiday season. The first half of the program featured music associated with the World War II era. Six WW II veterans were in attendance and were recognized and honored for their service. David Crews narrated the moving Duty, Honor, Country speech of Gen. Douglas MacArthur.

After intermission, ASB kicked off the Christmas Season with a selection of Holiday favorites, including Bruce Bray reading The Night Before Christmas to the children in the audience who gathered around for the story. The youngsters then joined the band, playing sleigh bells on, of course, Sleigh Bells.
