ASB on Broadway!

February 22, 2014
For one night only, Hwy 183 turned into Broadway in Austin as the Austin Symphonic Band brought an evening of show tune hits from the Great White Way. Featuring the vocal stylings of Carlton Dillard, ASB played the best of West Side Story, The King and I, Candide, Into the Woods, and Chicago along with selections from Hello Dolly, Bye Bye Birdie, Mame, and many others. An added bonus was the Clarinet Concerto by the great Artie Shaw, performed by guest artist Alex Ford.

Music Director Richard Floyd summed up the concert:

"So many wonderful things to say about the concert last night. GREAT audience. Lots of people and it appeared a good time was had by all.

The soloists were super and the band's accompaniments were near perfect. Possibly the best we have ever done. I wish you could have seen the look on Alex’s face the second he was finished and people were already on their feet applauding. It was priceless. I don't think he had any idea that the response would be so positive.

Carlton had a wonderful time and I thought he sang beautifully.

All in all a super concert for players and audience alike."
